# offers

An offer to provide this item—for example, an offer to sell a product, rent the DVD of a movie, perform a service, or give away tickets to an event. Use [businessFunction](https://schema.org.ai/businessFunction) to indicate the kind of transaction offered, i.e. sell, lease, etc. This property can also be used to describe a [Demand](https://schema.org.ai/Demand). While this property is listed as expected on a number of common types, it can be used in others. In that case, using a second type, such as Product or a subtype of Product, can clarify the nature of the offer.

## Expected Types

| Type | Description |
|------|-------------|
| [Demand](https://schema.org.ai/Demand) | A demand entity represents the public, not necessarily binding, not necessarily exclusive, announcement by an organization or person to seek a certain type of goods or services. For describing demand using this type, the very same properties used for Offer apply. |
| [Offer](https://schema.org.ai/Offer) | An offer to transfer some rights to an item or to provide a service — for example, an offer to sell tickets to an event, to rent the DVD of a movie, to stream a TV show over the internet, to repair a motorcycle, or to loan a book. Note: As the [businessFunction](https://schema.org.ai/businessFunction) property, which identifies the form of offer (e.g. sell, lease, repair, dispose), defaults to [http://purl.org/goodrelations/v1#Sell](http://purl.org/goodrelations/v1#Sell); an Offer without a defined businessFunction value can be assumed to be an offer to sell. For [GTIN](http://www.gs1.org/barcodes/technical/idkeys/gtin)-related fields, see [Check Digit calculator](http://www.gs1.org/barcodes/support/check_digit_calculator) and [validation guide](http://www.gs1us.org/resources/standards/gtin-validation-guide) from [GS1](http://www.gs1.org/). |

## Used on Types

| Type | Description |
|------|-------------|
| [AggregateOffer](https://schema.org.ai/AggregateOffer) | When a single product is associated with multiple offers (for example, the same pair of shoes is offered by different merchants), then AggregateOffer can be used. Note: AggregateOffers are normally expected to associate multiple offers that all share the same defined [businessFunction](https://schema.org.ai/businessFunction) value, or default to [http://purl.org/goodrelations/v1#Sell](http://purl.org/goodrelations/v1#Sell) if businessFunction is not explicitly defined. |
| [CreativeWork](https://schema.org.ai/CreativeWork) | The most generic kind of creative work, including books, movies, photographs, software programs, etc. |
| [EducationalOccupationalProgram](https://schema.org.ai/EducationalOccupationalProgram) | A program offered by an institution which determines the learning progress to achieve an outcome, usually a credential like a degree or certificate. This would define a discrete set of opportunities (e.g., job, courses) that together constitute a program with a clear start, end, set of requirements, and transition to a new occupational opportunity (e.g., a job), or sometimes a higher educational opportunity (e.g., an advanced degree). |
| [Event](https://schema.org.ai/Event) | An event happening at a certain time and location, such as a concert, lecture, or festival. Ticketing information may be added via the [offers](https://schema.org.ai/offers) property. Repeated events may be structured as separate Event objects. |
| [MenuItem](https://schema.org.ai/MenuItem) | A food or drink item listed in a menu or menu section. |
| [Product](https://schema.org.ai/Product) | Any offered product or service. For example: a pair of shoes; a concert ticket; the rental of a car; a haircut; or an episode of a TV show streamed online. |
| [Service](https://schema.org.ai/Service) | A service provided by an organization, e.g. delivery service, print services, etc. |
| [Trip](https://schema.org.ai/Trip) | A trip or journey. An itinerary of visits to one or more places. |
